Milan Fashion Week: S/S 2010

We are still two weeks away, but I am calling it now. For the Milan S/S 2010, the 90s are back. That means grunge, raves, and rehashed cut-n-paste culture. Post modernist fashion run amok? Yes. Also, I'm seeing green. While everybody plays wish fulfillment with their finances and gainfully accepts that the eco aesthetics. That may not mean bamboo and naturally fibers... but also recycled fashion, reusable fashion, and refashionable fashion.
Clothes made from other clothes or that turn into different looks or tangentially use the Eco movement as such. Also expect the color green to surface up (hopeful, spring green ... not forest, chartreuse, or nasty greens). The pendulum has swung away from skinny silhouettes and I expect to see more embrace of baggy, wide legged, and billowed clothing. 2010 is the first season of a new decade ... now that we've settled into the millennium ... I suspect we'll see less futuristic looks, fewer overt metallics, probably replaced by neons and pseudo rave trends.

Anyhow, based on their previous collections, and where these brands seem to be heading ... these are the brands which I'm most anticipating seeing:

Saturday June 20, 2009
  • COSTUME NATIONAL HOMME
  • JIL SANDER
  • MISSONI
  • BURBERRY PRORSUM
Sunday June 21, 2009
  • BOTTEGA VENETA
  • VIVIENNE WESTWOOD
  • NEIL BARRETT
  • ALESSANDRO DELL’ACQUA
  • ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
Monday June 22, 2009
  • ROBERTO CAVALLI
  • SALVATORE FERRAGAMO
  • ETRO
  • CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION
Tuesday June 23, 2009
  • JOHN VARVATOS
  • DSQUARED2
  • ICEBERG
  • Z ZEGNA
I'm sure I'll be way off though... and dutifully disappointed. But what else is new in the world of fashion?
